Guide To "For Decoration Only" Metallics

The Evil Cake Genius has spent years trying to match metallic colors to a 1/2" square piece of tablecloth, napkin, ribbon or some other miniscule scrap of nothing from an upcoming event. Do we look like a CSI's? Well, we're not. So give us something we can work with people! As usual, if you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself, so she did. And of course she's gonna share it with her friends. So here goes. It's a simple guide to Metallics to hopefully help get you get as close as humanly possible to the silver color from that piece of thread that fell off the Mother of the Bride's dress.

And YES! We know, these are not food products and are not meant to be eaten. They are however non-toxic, beautiful and safe to use in close proximity to anything that will be eaten. So, any area of the cake which is decorated with these powders should be removed prior to serving (gumpaste flowers, molded fondant, etc).
