Let's Make A Difference
You're on Evil Cake Genius, so you're already Awesome. But there's always room to be Awesomer (sorry, English teachers.)
If you've been an ECG Minion for a while, then you know that a year ago, she started our Let's Make a Difference program. Thanks to your purchases, we have donated 2,963 pounds of pet food and personal hygiene products to those in need. The ECG has had to start borrowing her husbands ginormous SUV to make the donation runs because she can no longer fit everything into her car! Her neighbor, Tracy, has been volunteering her time for the bi-weekly charity runs to shop and deliver these larger deliveries with the ECG as well!
Here's How It Works:
Each holiday, the ECG is going to pick some of her favorite products and donate 25% of the sales of those products directly to making a difference. We focus on 2 needs that the ECG has noticed at the food shelf where she volunteers.
1) Personal Hygiene Products: Every time she shows up for a shift, there is a noticeable deficit in the area of personal hygiene products. This ranges from Deodorant to Diapers to Laundry Detergent and Soap. Basic needs to maintain (or restore) a sense of dignity to people who are finding themselves in tough financial times.
2) Pet Food: the ECG has been bringing cases of pet food every time she shows up for a shift. Sadly, by the next shift the shelf is empty again. With your contribution, she can continue to stock this often overlooked need in the community. Helping people who have hit hard times keep their pets restores dignity and normalcy to families that are in crisis. It also supports Animal Rescues by keeping these pets in loving homes.
UPDATE: Due to recent events in the Minneapolis area, the food shelves have been brimming with donations from our community. The need for personal hygeine products is currently being met, so we have pivoted our current donations to all Pet Food, which is still in very short supply at the food shelves. As need changes, we will shift back to supplying both categories.
Since Spring is just around the corner, we've added three new "Let's Make A Difference" Products. We've also added donation "products" to the site that you can easily add to your cart. 100% of these products will go directly to purchasing goods for the food shelf. The ECG will personally purchase, and deliver the goods during her shifts. Since they are not physical products, they will not add any cost to your shopping cart for shipping, so go nuts!
