Everything's Coming up Rose Gold
It's heeere! The trend color of the year. And as always, the Evil Cake Genius is on it! You've seen it on Pinterest, your bridal clients are clamoring for it, and you can only find the luster in teeny tiny vials. Until now. The Evil Cake Genius has had this one on the radar for over a year. She's done the leg-work for you, and we're happy to say it's here, and it's fabulous! But let's stop for a second to explore this truly fabulous cake by Sarah Collins, all the way across the globe in Tasmania.
Sarah has a great Facebook Group called Help! I need a Cake! She emailed us because, Help! She needed a stencil! And the Evil Cake Genius laid this bad-boy out for her. Sarah used her new custom Acrylic Stencil and our Evil Cake Genius Rose Gold Bronze Powder mixed with Vodka to airbrush the pattern onto her gorgeous cake! Then, she finished it off with an entire Rose Gold (bronze!) tier and the most gorgeous spray of gum paste flowers! We're in luuuuurve with her cake. So much so, that we had to 1) add her Diamond Dash Stencil design to our site and 2) play around with that beautiful Bronze/Rose Gold Powder our Evil Cake Lair today! Sure enough! Straight Bronze Powder airbrushes to a perfect Rose Gold. But what about hand-painting?
Yep. Paints perfectly Rose Gold. But what about Mesh Stenciling? As you know...our mesh stencils work best with royal icing (which is downright impossible to make metallic). So we used our newest and possibly favorite trick ever. Mix the metallic powder with Vodka or lemon extract until super shiny, then add clear piping gel to thicken it up for stenciling on mesh stencils. Now, those of you who have met the Evil Cake Genius can all agree, she's a bit of a hyper-pants. So the thought of testing out Rose Gold on an existing Mesh Stencil Pattern just WON'T DO! You see, Evil, not unlike a cake decorator, Never Rests!
