Introducing the Evil Cake Genius's new favorite technique:
we decided to keep things from getting too dramatic, we'd simply call it our
TECHNICOLOR DREAM STENCILING TECHNIQUE
Let's be honest...the ECG is thrilled to see the cakey world embracing the Rainbow, Sparkle, Unicorn trend that's happening right now. The Evil One, herself, had a Lavender Unicorn birthday cake for her 14th birthday (many would say a little too old, but she plans to repeat the theme as soon as humanly possible). And she's in Good Company. Not to "out" other "Corny's, but our good friend Alex, creator of Poppy Paints does not travel to a cake show without her Unicorn Onesie, and another cakey friend, Dawn Butler just recently released a tutorial for a Unicorn Cake that...wait for it...Farts Glitter! Why? WHY? Why...didn't we think of that?
So, when playing with our new favorite line of Marina Sousa Stencils, we decided to test these babies out. We already know that they are incredibly elegant on a wedding cake, but how do they stand up to the Rainbow-riffic trend?
Not Bad, Huh? How about that topper? Here's how we did it:
Let's just say, that we're gonna be investing in a Unicorn Onesie in the very near future.
As always, that is simply thinned-down Royal Icing that we're stenciling with. And we're using our Marina Round Calligraphy Frame and Birthday Words 2 Stencil Set but this technique would work with any of our Mesh Stencils. And a slight variation on the technique makes a random multi-color pattern that would put Rainbow Brite, and Lisa Frank to shame.
Stay tuned for that video very soon...only so much Technicolor awesomeness at once...we need to dole this stuff out responsibly...we don't want to cause Rainbow Brain Freeze.
But we WILL show you one other little tidbit of mind-blowing sparkley goodness before we go. That genius behind the flagellating Unicorn has come out with a Silver Glitter Airbrush Paint! And we've already got a shipment in from the UK, so check out the video, and go get yourself a bottle of Liquid Joy HERE
