Yum Crumbs!
Meet Amanda and Family. Amanda and her husband are founders and co-owners of Yum Crumbs...a product that the ECG is in absolute luuuuurve with. Here's how they got their start:
Our journey with Yum Crumbs began with a stack of orders for custom crumb cakes and a short supply of time to fulfill them. I enjoyed making the Crumbs, but it was disproportionately consuming my time. That was my ah ha moment... I reached out to a few high demand bakers and they loved the idea of never having to make Crumbs again. We researched tirelessly on how to streamline the process and make it affordable without sacrificing the quality ingredients needed to preserve the authentic taste we all remember growing up. After numerous rounds of testing and becoming compliant with FDA regulations, Yum Crumbs was born. None of this would be possible without the amazing support from my Husband/Business Partner. Our collaboration with Evil Cake Genius is a dream come true and we hope it's a sign of the road ahead.
The ECG is always on the lookout for products that will make her cakes 1) Easier and 2) Awesomer (lay off, she's not the Evil English Teacher!)
That's why she was intrigued with this new product. It was like nothing she had ever seen before, and it solved a problem that the ECG was having. You see, with the current trend of buttercream cakes loaded with sprinkles and topped with candy, macarons, and delicious cake drip, the ECG was running into a problem. Most of her sprinkle mixes, while gorgeous, were like eating little jaw-breaker candies. So finding something to add fun texture without not-so-fun trips to the dentist was heavy on her mind.
So the ECG took up Amanda on her offer for some free samples. And the ECG spent last week kitchen testing the Yum Crumbs (all except for the Blueberry Cobbler flavor, which she inhaled straight out of the jar while at her desk in one afternoon, don't judge until you try them yourself!)
Here are the results of our Kitchen Testing:
On Cake: Buttercream frosted cake with Strawberry Filling and Toasted Almond Crumbs: Yaaaaaaaass
On Cupcakes: Lemon-filled with Strawberry Lemonade Crumbs, Fudge-filled with Chocolate Eclair Crumbs, Buttercream-filled with Birthday Cake Crumbs: Hell Yaaaasssss
On Cake Popsicles: Strawberry Shortcake and Banana Cream Pie Crumbs: Oh, Hell Yaaaaaasss
On French Macarons: Filled with thick buttercream and rolled in Pistachio, Key Lime, or Orange Dream: Can't type...eating...
On Chocolate Dipped Strawberries: Chocolate Eclair and Strawberry Shortcake: Yes, Yess, a thousand times Yesss!!!
On Caramel Apples: Dipped in White Chocolate and Red Velvet, or straight into Pumpkin Pie or Cinnamon Bun
On Pies and Crisps: Holy man!! Apple Crisp with Pumpkin Pie and Cinnamon Bun Yum Crumb Topping is a whole lotta Yaaass! And a Dutch Apple Pie topped with Caramel Yum Crumbs...oh, c'mon!
Seriously, though...they have the perfect crumble texture, and the flavor is outstanding. They don't get soggy under refrigeration or from the buttercream. A 12 oz. jar goes a long way. We covered 24 of our wayyyy overfrosted cupcakes with one jar. If you frost cupcakes like a normal human (ahem, Jenna), you'll get at least 30 per jar. These things will be a part of everything and anything the ECG can add them to for the rest of her cakey life.
Check out all the delicious flavors:
