Naked Cookie Stenciling
Don't worry, this isn't some freaky trend springing out of a swingin' retirement community in Boca Raton! The ECG is happy to report that the baker remains fully clothed during this decorating technique...it's the cookies who are naked.
It all started with the ECG's friend, Anette. Anette is a cookie genius! She is always experimenting with new recipes and piles up ribbons for her delicious cookies at the MN State Fair every year. But much to the ECG's chagrin, she doesn't typically decorate her cookies. Until...
after months of prodding, she finally caved, and tried one of our stencils! And the ECG was blown away! With a quick mix of corn starch and powdered sugar (the corn starch prevents the sugar from dissolving) Anette used our Snowflake Stencil in a way the ECG had never thought of using it! The powdered sugar sprinkling was pretty cool, but the big takeaway was the concept of stenciling a NAKED COOKIE!!! So the ECG whipped up a batch of Minion-Jenna's Grandma Connies Pepperkar Cookies and had a play.
And of course, we shot a video!
It's been quite a few years since we shot this video, and the ECG is happy to say that she's got an even Glitzier Edible Glitter to use on her cookies, but the technique remains the same. This started out as a time-saver so that she didn't have to ice the cookies before decorating, but she loves the look, and the lack of frosting is a nice break from super sweet iced cookies.
Now, get yourself the recipe below, but first here's everything you need to get naked this year:
