3 Things You Need to Know

3 things you need to know

The ECG learns something new every day.  Sometimes it's as useless as the fact that A group of hippos is called a "bloat." Other times, it's a teeny bit more helpful in her daily life.  Today, she's going to share three of the latter with you.

1) Our Edible Lustre Dusts dry-brush chocolate to a glorious sheen!

We knew that they could be mixed with water or alcohol to create a gorgeous paint for cakes and cookies, but this...this is some kind of wizardry. Our Chocolate Easter Bunnies and Cadbury Eggs are getting a makeover. Stat!

2) Our most requested Icing Sheet doesn't (well, didn't) exist.  That's right.  Tons of you are making that adorable Buttercream Watercolor Bunny cake that we shared a while back (See Video HERE). But those edible wafer paper Hydrangeas that we used on the cake have caused a flurry of email requests.  Every one of them asking for the icing sheet of the girl that was used in the product image.

But much to our dismay, no such Icing Sheet existed.  The girl in the product image was hand-painted onto an icing sheet.  But the ECG abides.  So, we've designed our own Icing Sheet beauties to use with those sweet hydrangeas.  It's the perfect decoration for any bridal shower,  Quinceanara, or fashionista's birthday cake.

It will work with any of those beauteous wafer paper flowers or butterflies, but we can't wait to make her a ruffly dress out of our Edible Fabric like we did for our ballerina stencil! Watch!

3) Our mesh stencils most-definitely CAN be used on buttercream cakes! The ECG is a fondant lover.  She does the majority of her decorating on fondant over american buttercream. And while she knows that her acrylic stencils work like a charm on buttercream, she had never tried out the mesh stencils. Well, thanks to all of you buttercream peeps out there for enlightening her.  Turns out the mesh stencils work beautifully on a chilled crusting buttercream.  Just check out this beauty by Plumeria Splendor Cake made with the Venetian Lace Stencil by Cake Halliday

Want to give it a go? Simply follow our tutorial for Mesh Stenciling, but stencil onto a very-chilled, firm buttercream cake using thinned buttercream to stencil instead or Royal Icing.  Watch the full tutorial HERE And for some inspiration, check out our newest Mesh Stencils below.
